Getting Started Again

We are currently in the process of filling out paperwork to get our homestudy updated.  A homestudy is basically what it says, a document that describes your home, including your married relationship, current children, and  your past and current lifestyle. It can be a  bit daunting to go through the process for the first time. I'm glad we are beyond that part, and only need to have it updated with information from the past two years. We adopted our youngest three children from foster care 2 years ago, and the agency closes your license after the adoption is finalized.  I'm not sure why they do that, since the process to get things going again can be time consuming, but that's just the way they do things in our state.

So we sent in an application packet 8 weeks ago and were approved for the initial step.  Next we will be meeting with our new adoption worker, and have a few interviews with her so we can get our paperwork updated.  I also found out that fingerprinting is now required in our state. According to our new adoption worker, it can take a few weeks, or several, depending on whether the fingerprints are readable.  It will most likely be another test in patience as is the case with most of the adoption process.
